“Thirty years after gunning down an alien drug lord in a Texas showdown, an aging lawman is dragged back into the fight when the creature reawakens in a Swedish snowstorm — and the only thing standing between him and Armageddon is the eight-year-old girl who just became its blood brother.”

The Pitch

Synopsis

Thirty years after Sheriff Jack Caine put down a hulking alien drug dealer in a Houston showdown, the case that ended his career and his sanity has never let him go. When a freak lightning strike reactivates the creature's remains — stored, unbeknownst to anyone, in an abandoned WWII bunker under the Swedish countryside — Caine's shadowy former handler pulls him out of exile for one more job: go back to Sweden, and finish what he started.

He's not alone in the fight. Stockholm detective Anderson Petterson, still raw from his wife's murder, is already chasing the body count the alien — Talec — leaves behind on a bloody, drug-fueled rampage through the city's underworld. Anderson's sister Angie is sheltering his daughter Johanna, whose rare blood disease makes her more fragile than she looks — and whose fearlessness is about to save every adult in this story more than once.

When Talec crosses paths with Johanna, something unexpected happens: her blood, mixed with his in a moment of accidental first aid, seems to heal him. She names them blood brothers. He doesn't correct her. What follows is a chase across Sweden's frozen highways and Stockholm's underworld, a rival alien bounty-hunter squad hunting Talec for reasons of their own, a government cleanup crew planning to erase the entire town to keep the secret buried, and a small Swedish village that decides to fight back with pitchforks, snow cats, and no idea what they're actually up against.

It ends in a full-scale battle on a snow-covered hillside, a father and daughter reunion — and a body in cold storage that opens its eyes the second everyone turns their back.
